Frisian

Frisian was the language of my great-grandfather, and was the closest linguistic sibling to Old English.

• My family tree spans 10 generations, including 7 generations of Frisian natives.

• My column on the final Frisian worship service in Grand Rapids, Michigan, appeared in the Chicago Tribune in June 2006.
